Historically, especially through Jim Cowan, our experience covers a wide range of events ranging from the original idea, the design and the launch of the Race for Life to the management of large scale disability events such as the Special Olympics.
Large and small charities such as the Royal British Legion and Active Sussex have consulted with Jim for expert advice on events. The Royal British Legion benefitting greatly from his advice when launching the Run 2 Remember at Wootton Bassett on Remembrance Weekend 2012 while Active Sussex used Jim when a member of staff was away on maternity leave and they needed to ensure the annual 550 seat Sussex Sports Awards Dinner went ahead without any problems.
People’s Events has only recently started life and our own portfolio of events and partners will grow over time.
The Clough Taylor People’s Run is a 10km and 5km run (or walk) originally held at the famous Donington Park motor racing circuit between 2013 and 2016 but which, from 2017 has grown to become a two-venue event; one in Derby and the other in Nottingham. The event remembers two great figures from the world of football, Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, while supporting charities selected by their families.
The People's Run 2 Remember is a nationwide series of 5km fun runs which started life in 2011 as The Poppy Run. By 2014 Poppy Runs took place at 30 places around the UK. In 2015 we have rebranded and relaunched the event as the People's Run 2 Remember and we are anticipating increasing the number of runs around the country to grow steadily over the coming years. The events support four charities; ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the RAF Benevolent Fund, Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, and Scotty's Little Soldiers.
We are supporting Street Child United having creating a brand new event which took place in Rio de Janeiro in November 2013 for the first time and now takes place annually. The Rio Three Peaks Challenge features a challenge to conquer three of the city's larger peaks in under 12 hours with a finish line to remember in front of the landmark statue of Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) overlooking the whole city. In Brazil for a week, participants also have the opportunity to visit the favelas and witness Street Child United's work to eradicate child homelessness first hand. The event is scheduled to take place again in November 2017, organised for Street Child United by People's Events.
Other events and partnerships will be announced over the coming weeks, months and years, please check back for updates.
